Vacasa Now Offers Vacation Rental Management in Uruguay

Portland, Ore. June 13, 2017 — Vacasa, the second-largest U.S. vacation rental management company, is expanding its global footprint to offer vacation rentals in Uruguay.
Santiago Fragela, a Uruguay native who has worked in the service industry for more than eight years, will manage Vacasa’s development as the company’s Uruguay country manager. Fragela joins Vacasa from Altisource, a mortgage and loan services company based in the United States, Under Fragela’s management, Vacasa has begun working with local real estate companies to convert new and existing vacation rental owners to its service.

Founded in 2009 and based in Portland, Oregon, Vacasa manages more than 5,100 vacation rentals -- more than 500 of which are located outside of the United States. The company’s cofounder and chief development officer, Cliff Johnson, announced Vacasa’s investment in global expansion in late 2015. Since then, Vacasa has hired 95 employees to focus on international development, based in both its Portland, Oregon headquarters and in the international markets themselves.
“We see Vacasa as the ubiquitous vacation rental management service, and we see that becoming a reality in the next few years,” says Johnson. “I am so proud of the team we’ve built to lead this effort, and we look forward to expanding the Vacasa service to every vacation market in the world.”
Vacasa plans to hire several employees to help expand in Uruguay, and has recently filled three business development roles in the country. In addition, Vacasa will partner with local publication El País to promote its service offering under the publication’s branding.
