Named for the two apple trees in the yard and the warm feelings the house evokes, Appy Place is a true all seasons midwestern paradise, a vacation sanctuary, on the shores of Lake Michigan. Enjoy a quick stroll down the road to a sandy private community beach and beautiful spaces to gather both inside and out.
This four-bedroom home is ideally situated in the private beach gated community of Glenn Haven Shores between the charming beach towns of South Haven, and Saugatuck and Douglas, on a landscaped piece of property lined with evergreens. When you're not lounging on the sand down Beach Drive, you'll be perfectly placed to explore area vineyards, hike the Saugatuck Dunes, bike the Kal-Haven and Van Buren Trails, go blueberry picking, and catch spectacular nightly sunsets.
In the sparkling summer months, make yourself at home in the expansive yard by picking delicious apples, napping in the hammock, lulling yourself into a state of zen while mildly swinging on the bench swing or rocking on the front porch glider bench, and watching your kids climb the play structure. Sit down for barbecue dinners in the shade of the umbrella, linger on the screened porch with coffee and dessert, and use the provided bundle of wood to roast marshmallows around the outdoor firepit.
In the vibrantly colorful fall months, feel free to pick an apple or two from the oversized apple tree in the front yard. The apple trees are naturally growing with no help from humans and produce tasty apples but finding edible ones is a bit of a scavenger hunt (and eating the apples is at your own risk – please first inspect, wash and cut open thoroughly) as they provide nourishment to little critters as well as deer who can stretch their necks high enough to grab a taste of sweetness. Best to head over to Crane’s for plentiful apple picking and eating in the crispness of the fall air!
In the bright white winter months, enjoy the coziness of Appy Place by sipping hot cocoa around the fire pit or nestling up to the electric fireplace and binge-watching shows on streaming TVs after an invigorating day of skiing or tubing at one of the nearby ski resorts. And remember … just as Appy Place is an all seasons home, so is the sunset at Sunset Park, only a few minute walk down to the end of the street (or head to the private beach for a lower view of South Haven’s spectacular sunsets).
The elegant interior is open, polished, and full of light, with large windows and lovely wainscoting throughout. Prepare meals with ease in an airy kitchen with double ovens, a gas range, a wine fridge, and other stainless steel appliances, and sit down to eat at the island breakfast bar, in the dining room, or outside on the deck. In the evenings, light the electric fireplace and stream a movie or two in the living room, or head upstairs to play foosball in the loft. Other bonus features include TVs in three of the four bedrooms (two of the bedroom TVs are smart TVs, and the third small TV is solely a DVD player), central AC and heat, and a private washer/dryer.
