Where is Port Orange, FL?

Port Orange is a city in the Fun Coast region of Florida, sitting immediately south of Daytona Beach, north of New Smyrna Beach, and east of Samsula-Spruce Creek. Continuing eastward takes you to the Halifax River (part of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway), then back on land with the city of Daytona Beach Shores and finally the beautiful Atlantic Coast. Crossed by Nova Road and Dunlawton Avenue, Port Orange is easy to get to whether you're traveling on I-95 or along scenic A1A.

Things to do in Port Orange, FL

The Port Orange City Hall Complex hosts a number of special events throughout the year including the Lakeside Jazz Festival and the Port Orange Art Fest, both held in the month of April. A showcase for military, university, high school, and middle school jazz bands, the Lakeside Jazz Festival is a two-day, multi-stage celebration offering great music, delicious food, educational opportunities, and fun for all.  

The Port Orange Art Fest is a two-day gathering of artisans from the local area and beyond. Visit one of our vacation rentals in Port Orange for the 4th of July and catch a fantastic fireworks display over the lake!

Take a trip back in time to the early twentieth century at the 175-acre Gamble Place (of Procter & Gamble fame). Included in the National Register of Historic Places, this property features an historic home, cottage, and citrus packing house. In addition to these structures, visitors can walk among ancient cypress trees and azalea blossoms and maybe spot some local wildlife.

Another worthwhile site sure to thrill history buffs is the Dunlawton Plantation and Sugar Mill with its origins going all the way back to the 18th century! Walk among the ruins of this former plantation and through the beautifully groomed botanical gardens to get inspiration for your own garden back home.

Day trips from Port Orange, FL

Explore the beaches and resorts of neighboring Daytona Beach and be sure to schedule a visit to the Daytona International Speedway (home of the annual Daytona 500 race) just 10 miles north.

Drive south along the coast to visit the Kennedy Space Center, just 55 miles away, as well as the famous pier and attractions of Cocoa Beach. Surfers will want to check out the East Coast Surfing Hall of Fame and the Cocoa Beach Surf Museum, all a little over 70 miles from Port Orange.

Lastly, plan on the ultimate day trips for the whole family at Walt Disney World and Universal Studios in Orlando, both just 75 miles southwest.
