The nearby towns of Welches, Brightwood, and Government Camp provide more mountainside fun, like lookout points and places to kayak and fish.
Day trips are also a great option from here. The Columbia River Gorge is about 30 miles away, and it offers world-famous windsurfing and kite surfing and stunning views of waterfalls and mountains. The town of Hood River provides several brewery options and plenty of festivals and events year-round.
