Live the lifestyle of a former president with a stay at this historic 6BR/8BA estate, once belonging to President Lyndon B. Johnson. Located 3 miles from downtown and a half-mile from Lake Austin, this remodeled estate has a gorgeous pool, pickleball court, and multiple kitchens and living areas.
'[This Austin home] had charm,' writes Lady Bird Johnson in her oral history book, 'and was a happy part of our lives for a good many years.'
INSIDE LBJ’S ESTATE
This Estate underwent a large-scale renovation, completed in May 2015. The flawless interior features two living areas, two full kitchens, and separate entrances to each area -- an ideal set-up for company retreats, multi-family getaways, reunions, or any situation where time together AND personal space are important.
Reserve the formal living area for cocktails and conversation (or coffee and strategizing). Add a fire in the fireplace if it’s chilly.
The second living area above the garage has a 60” TV, leather sofas, pool and games tables.
The second kitchen is adjacent to this space. Keep snacks and drinks handy, or use it to supplement the main kitchen when preparing a big feast.
A truly spectacular outdoor area was designed for entertaining with a professional-quality pickleball court with LED lighting, a pristine swimming pool, and a complete outdoor kitchen.
The outdoor pool, tennis court, and basketball court can only be used during 9am - 10pm.
BEDROOMS
Up to 12 people can sleep in six bedrooms, which include two expansive master suites with king beds, flat-screen TVs, and luxurious attached bathrooms. Two more bedroom suites have queen beds.
The TV room has a 60” TV, plus a queen sleeper sofa. Kids will love piling into the bunk room with a full-over-full bunk bed, twin-over-twin bunk, a twin trundle, and a 20” TV.
LOCATION
This historic estate occupies the perfect place between Austin and the lake. Tucked into a quiet, tree-dappled neighborhood, you will find peaceful seclusion and easy access to downtown, 3 miles away. Easily access kayak rentals, trails, and Zilker Park over the AHS footbridge near the home.
Visit the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center (17-minute drive). This preserve and education center (with 650 species of native Texas plants) captures the environmentalist spirit of the First Lady who once called this Austin vacation rental 'home.'
Bring your clubs; there’s a golf course a half-mile from the estate. Or rent a boat and explore Lake Austin, also a half-mile away. On the lakeshore, you’ll find Hula Hut, a local luau-themed waterfront restaurant serving up margaritas and Tiki-Mex cuisine.
The LBJ Presidential Library is a 15-minute drive from the home on the East side of UT Austin's campus.
The City of Austin limits occupancy to six unrelated adults.
