Restored, dog-friendly, historical landmark with pool table & prime location

Experience the Rose City of yesteryear at this one-of-a-kind guest suite on the ground floor of Firehouse 17, a true landmark of Northwest Portland and a showcase of expert craftsmanship and over a century of local history.

Built in 1912 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987, Firehouse 17 was originally designed by Portland Battalion Chief Lee Gray Holden to house a horse-drawn ladder truck and steam pumper. In recent years, the iconic brick building that once sheltered five horses and roughly half a dozen firefighters was expertly restored by a top-notch team of engineers, artists, woodworkers, stonemasons, and designers.

The location in the historic Alphabet District of Northwest Portland couldn't be better. You'll be one block off Northwest 23rd Avenue, which is lined with renowned restaurants, bakeries, and boutiques of all stripes. Providence Park, Forest Park (via the Lower Macleay Park trailhead), the Pearl District, and downtown Portland are all within a one-mile stroll as well.

Details of richly hued wood, classic subway tile, antique furnishings, and exposed duct work adorn the ground-floor interior. The lofty living room is a large, open space with screens separating a cozy sleeping area, a sitting room with leather seating and a 47-inch smart TV, and a billiard room by the carriage doors (with the firepole hiding in the corner). There's even a well-equipped kitchen with every essential, including two dining tables and radiant floor heat.

In addition to the sleeping space screened off in the living room, there's one separate bedroom with a smart TV and a desk workspace where you can log onto the complimentary WiFi. A full bathroom with beautiful stone and tilework, a private laundry room, and AC are provided as well.
