Nice house, nice location, but prefer to work with private owners instead of management companies.
Bernadette K. | Dec 2024
The house was perfect! The pictures don't do it justice. We had all age groups and everyone was happy. The little kids loved the slide and the playground and just running up and down the stairs playing hide and seek. Ages 17 and up loved the downstairs area. It's a whole man cave down there. I love that the air hockey table turns into table tennis. We couldn't get the arcade game to work, but they were fine without it. The fire pit was definitely the biggest hit. They had that going every night. The view was beautiful and made waking up early to cook so much better. This isn't the original house I wanted, but it ended up being the perfect house for us. It worked out better then I could have imagined.

This was a very nice lakefront house and the location was just what we were looking for. Kitchen and family areas were large with great natural light. Great views of the lake are available from the living areas as well as the deck.

Where is Lake Anna?

At about 50 miles from Charlottesville and 70 miles from Richmond, Lake Anna makes an easy destination for city-dwelling Virginians. It’s also a popular vacation spot from Washington, D.C., which sits about 100 miles northeast. Folks from Baltimore, Philadelphia, and New York City can easily reach a Lake Anna vacation rental within a day’s drive, so it makes a convenient getaway for residents of many East Coast big cities as well as Virginia locals.

Things to Do in Lake Anna

If you’re staying at a Lake Anna vacation rental, odds are you’re here for the water. Boating, jet skiing, and water sports reign supreme here, and you’ll find ample opportunities for renting them if you didn’t bring your own. Lake Anna is also known for its year-round fishing; since its water never freezes, you can catch a largemouth bass here in any season.

Nature lovers will feel right at home in Lake Anna State Park, the local hub for hiking, biking, and beach exploring. Visitors can even try their luck panning for gold! For a rustic lakeside experience, book a Lake Anna cabin rental and take in the simplicity of your surroundings.

On the opposite side of the lake, the Boardwalk—home to minigolf, an arcade, beach volleyball, and more—remains a hit with kids and adults alike. Or, leave the kids at the vacation rental and peruse the local wineries. Lake Anna Winery is not to be missed, but if you’d rather get a more diverse sampling, try a local tour like the Heart of Virginia wine trail. If wine’s not your style, the Belmont Farm Distillery is certainly worth a visit, too.

Golf enthusiasts can tee off at the Meadow Farms Golf Course or the Tanyard Country Club. The towns surrounding your Lake Anna rental are rich with antiquing opportunities; make sure to stop by a few shops in Fredericksburg or Bumpass for a shot at finding a hidden gem. When you start to get hungry, indulge in freshly-made crab cakes or some classic Virginia barbecue.

You’ll never be bored on your Lake Anna vacation. Find the cabin or home that suits you best, and let the fun begin.
