Make Beaver Cove your next getaway

There's something special about Beaver Cove that belies its small size. While it lacks the hustle and bustle of Maine's larger cities like Portland, the town more than makes up for it in subtle ways. A great location near Moosehead Lake, an abundance of New England small-town charm, and easy access to plenty of other quaint sights and sounds make this central-Maine destination perfect for your next peaceful getaway.

A wonderfully accommodating home filled with items a vacationers usually forget to bring. Rooms nicely decorated and warm. Everything very clean, organized and welcoming.

The location was perfect. It was quiet and full of beautiful nature.

Very nice cabin right on Moosehead Lake. Cabin was perfect with all needed housewares for cooking. The creature comforts like beds and recliners were very comfortable. I enjoyed the nicely sized property with wooded area where i stood beside a small deer for 5 minutes or so. The dock access & kayaks were very nice. Overall this exceeded my expectations. This was fist time using Vacasa & I was extremely satisfied.

Things to do in Beaver Cove, ME

Beaver Cove truly is a tiny town - the population is just over 120 persons. This means that the shopping and dining options are rather limited compared to what you might find elsewhere, but in exchange, you have the ability to walk down Main Street in peace and quiet.

The sleepy atmosphere of Beaver Cove is not to be underestimated - whether you're relaxing at your vacation rental or admiring the changing of the leaves as you stroll down Lily Bay Road, you're sure to feel a sense of relaxation and serenity you won't easily find elsewhere. Let your worries melt away with strolls around the gorgeous Prong and Mud Ponds, or with a nice hike through the heavily forested Lily Bay State Park.

Moosehead Lake and more natural beauty

The sandy shore of Moosehead Lake that border Beaver Cove to the west is easily the town's biggest draw. Gentle strolls along the shore let you marvel at the sparkling water from a variety of angles, and those brave enough to go swimming can even enjoy the beauty firsthand. If you want to really see the gorgeous lake - and learn a thing or two about its history - head six-and-a-half miles south to the Moosehead Marine Museum, where one-of-a-kind steamboat tours await you!

East of town, meanwhile, is something special for hikers visiting the area. The Appalachian Mountain Club 100 Mile Wilderness Preserve is a breathtaking recreational area for those interested in stretching their legs and exploring the great outdoors. Hiking trails, campgrounds, boating, and even hunting and fishing await you in the preserve, so don't forget your hiking boots when you pack for a vacation to Beaver Cove!

Day trips from Beaver Cove, ME

Following Lily Bay Road south for a few miles will bring visitors to the charming town of Greenville. Over ten times the size of Beaver Cove, guests can enjoy fishing charters at Northwoods Outfitters, dining out at Flatlanders or Rod-N-Reel Cafe, and a whole new perspective on gorgeous Moosehead Lake.

Fourteen miles away, meanwhile, lie the pristine slopes of Big Squaw Mountain Ski Area. Wintertime visitors may not be able to make the most out of the lake, but they can certainly tear up some pristine winter slopes with skis and snowboards instead!
