Nice home -3 rooms w en-suite bathrooms

Great location near glacier National park
Jonathan T. | Oct 2024
Wonderful location. Even though it was in a neighborhood we felt it was private with the trees surrounding the house. We enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub, playing games, teaching the two teens how to play pool and touring the area. Nice central location to many activities. Our only regret was not enough time to enjoy the house even more.

Where is Columbia Falls, MT?

Perched at an elevation of 3,087 feet, Columbia Falls sits immediately west of Flathead National Forest and 18 miles southwest of the West Glacier entrance to Glacier National Park. The town, which is served by Northwest Montana's Glacier Park International Airport eight miles away, is also only 10 miles east of the outdoor mecca of Whitefish and 17 miles north of Kalispell's commercial center. If you're looking for a quiet lakefront experience, you can find that at our vacation rentals in adventurous Bigfork or Lakeside on Flathead Lake.

Things to Do in Columbia Falls, MT

With average temperatures that climb to 81 degrees in summer and 66 inches of snowfall each winter, Columbia Falls is a bastion of outdoor living. Play 18 championship holes on the Meadow Lake Golf Course, which has been selected by Golf Magazine as a "must-play" course, or book a tee time at the aptly named Glacier View Golf Course, which even offers family tees for young golfers.

You'll find public access to the Flathead River within a mile of downtown Columbia Falls, while the Hungry Horse Dam and Reservoir sit just 11 miles east. This 564-foot dam is the highest in Montana, creating a 34-mile-long reservoir with 170 miles of shoreline for catching whitefish, bull trout, and cutthroat trout. Swimmers, thrill-seekers, and families can also spend the day at Big Sky Waterpark, the biggest waterpark in Montana with 10 water slides, a whirlpool, kids' pool, miniature golf, and bumper cars.

Come winter, you'll find an extensive network of snowmobile and cross-country ski trails in town, but the slopes of Whitefish Mountain Resort are also just 16 miles northwest. Enjoy 105 trails (80 percent of which are best suited for intermediate and advanced skiers) and five terrain parks, which sit on 3,000 acres of beautiful mountainside.

Visiting Glacier National Park

Perhaps the biggest draw of Columbia Falls is its proximity to Glacier - an awe-inspiring 1,583-square-mile expanse that has been protected as a national park since 1910. Just 19 miles from the Apgar Visitor Center, our vacation rentals in Columbia Falls are an ideal starting point for the unimaginably scenic drive along the Going-to-the-Sun Road, a 50-mile pass that crosses the Continental Divide (typically open between late June and early October).

That is just the beginning of your Glacier National Park adventures, though. Explore more than 700 miles of hiking trails, 25 named glaciers, 175 mountains, and 131 named lakes, making sure to save time for the Highline Loop, the Grinnell Glacier Trail, and a sunrise viewing of Swiftcurrent Lake. Feeling nervous about encountering one of the park's 71 species of mammals on your hike? Simply sign up for a ranger-guided trek, which run between late June and early September.

The splendor of Northwest Montana will be at your fingertips when you reserve a stay at one of our Columbia Falls vacation rentals!
