The front living room tv had a fire stick, so it made it easy to use our streaming apps. Just make sure to log out before checking out. The hot tub was nice and covered. The kitchen had some spices, bring your own if you plan on cooking a lot or like a lot of spices. The bathroom and bedroom had plenty of drawers and space to put your belongings. The heater in the room keep the room really warm at night. The only thing that really needs attention to is the sign on the deck that said the cabin number. It is extremely hard to see in the dark. Maybe put some lights next to it, in order to brighten up the sign. An ambulance was having a hard time finding the correct cabin also. Other than that the house was a quiet little cabin that was relaxing for my husband and I's 12th year anniversary.

The resort goes from the top of a steep hill (tiny mountain?) to the bottom. The Whale House is at the bottom next to a rushing creek, surrounded by tall trees and vegetation. Even though we had to give up our original reservation at the top that overlooked the entire resort and the beach, The Whale House setting turned out to be fascinating because of the foliage and forest life. Lots of science to explore with the relaxing background noise of the creek. Thanks, Vacasa, for listening to us and being so accommodating.

This is our 2nd stay and we plan for many more in the future. Amazing views, good layout and cozy. Safe neighborhood and located within a few minute drive to Brookings.

Where is Brookings, OR?

Just 30 miles to the south of Gold Beach and about seven miles from the California state line, Brookings offers gorgeous warm days and cooler nights for watching the stars from the beach or even roasting marshmallows around your Brookings beach cottage's backyard fire pit.

Things to Do in Brookings, OR

And while the beach, Macklyn Cove, and numerous tide pools at Harris Beach State Park are a huge draw to this magical Oregon Coast spot, Brookings is much more than just sand, surf, and starfish (although there is plenty of those)! There's a botanical garden to explore, the Oregon Redwoods Trail for glimpses of these historic, giant trees, and at the Port of Brookings Harbor you can access public boat ramps for a day out on the water, fishing for dinner. This harbor is known for its access to the Pacific Ocean and Chetco River for Chinook salmon and deep water steelhead, ling cod, and Dungeness crab.

What else can you do when you leave your Brookings beach cottage for the day? Well, golfers will want to schedule time at the Salmon Run Golf Course, and for water sports enthusiasts, Sporthaven Beach is known for great surfing and body boarding. And in summer, the water is warm enough that you will probably not even need a wetsuit. From one of our Brookings vacation rentals, you can also head to Sporthaven Beach to do a little whale watching in winter and spring. Brookings is also home to a famous Artisan Market on Saturdays (May - October), the Azalea Festival Memorial Day weekend, a Farmers Market (June - October), the Southern Oregon Kite Festival in July, and a large Art Festival in August.

But really, there is no bad time to visit this charming, ocean-side Oregon town! Pick one of our Brookings vacation rentals for a comfortable and well-stocked home base while you explore the beautiful Southern Oregon Coast. Just be sure to bring your sunscreen, your beach toys...and your sense of adventure!
