Clean cozy house on the bay. Great location to the entire cities of both Coos Bay and North Bend
Heather M. | Dec 2024
We love the house but when we got there we couldn’t get the furnace to work properly! It would run for 10 seconds then turn off! After a few hours with no success we called the emergency Vacasa number and told them of the problem! I finally turned off the breaker and back on and it started working! The person we talked to said he was putting in an emergency ticket to get us help! After 3 nights no one reached out to us! I am really disappointed it that! Luckily we figured it out or it would have been a cold 3 nights! I was sure a host would call but no!

Activities in Coos Bay

From your charming Coos Bay vacation cottage, head to town for a historic walking tour of the Marshfield District downtown. There's a bike trail and a city dock - spend a warm, sunny afternoon on two wheels or set off for an afternoon of boating around the bay. Right from Coos Bay, you can head out on a charter deep-sea fishing trip for salmon, halibut, or even albacore tuna. For a majestic sight, go on a whale-watching excursion on the Pacific Ocean!

Other downtown attractions include the Coos Art Museum and the Egyptian Theater (built in 1925, it still has its original organ) - if you're lucky, you'll be there for a Beer & Movie Night sponsored by the local 7 Devil's Brewing Co. There's also the Oregon Coast Historic Rail Museum and the Historical & Maritime Center - all perfect activities for a cold and rainy day at the stunning and wild Southern Oregon Coast.

Coos Bay is also a popular destination for its festivals and events - there's always something going on here. A well-attended farmer's market runs May through October and is perfect for picking up some local vegetables for the evening's dinner. There is a jazz festival that takes place in March, the Oregon Coast Music Festival in July, the Blackberry Arts Festival in August, and the Bay Area Fun Run and the Prefontaine Run in September. But really, when you visit this laid-back and charming town, you may just want to spend your time relaxing on the patio or deck of your peaceful Coos Bay vacation home!

Day trips from Coos Bay

Coos Bay's sister city, North Bend, includes the Oregon Dunes Recreation Area. Visitors love to drive all-terrain vehicles over the dunes and use the public boat ramp to launch a marine expedition. There's a casino where gamblers can enjoy some competitive play, and a mall to sate shopping appetites.

Oregon natives and tourists alike mingle in the coastal paradise of Florence, with its art galleries and historical buildings. If you're there at the right time, the annual Rhododendron Festival is worth a visit. Make sure to bring along your camera - you'll want photographs from the top of the Heceta Head Lighthouse.

Enjoy your time surrounded by the scenic bay, wind-swept ocean beaches, and a region rich in history. Take in the waterfront views from the Coos Bay Boardwalk or stop in at the Stray Cat Bakery for a peanut butter cookie or a cup of homemade clam chowder. No matter how you spend your time in Coos Bay, you'll be glad you visited this unique Oregon destination!
