Where is South Beach, FL?

Located South of Miami Beach, South Beach is a two-mile-long stretch of coastline and historic beachfront neighborhoods. It is bordered by Dade Boulevard to the north and South Pointe Park to the south. Conveniently, South Beach is approximately six miles from downtown Miami and can be easily accessed by crossing over Biscayne Bay via the MacArthur Causeway.

Things to Do in South Beach, FL

Warm and sunny, South Beach is known for its active lifestyle. Strap on some rollerblades, hop on a bicycle, or lace up your running shoes to explore the Miami Beach Boardwalk, a paved beachfront path that begins about three miles north and winds all the way down to South Beach.

The historic neighborhoods in South Beach are perfect for an afternoon full of casual sightseeing. Explore buildings of a bygone era, exquisitely preserved for modern day enjoyment in the Art Deco Historic District and along Collins Avenue. Want to learn more about the area’s history? Take a fun walking tour with the Miami Design Preservation League and you’ll explore the unique architecture of South Beach’s neighborhoods, which include Art Deco, Mediterranean Revival, and Miami Modern (MiMo) styles.

Hungry after wandering throughout the city? Head over to Lincoln Road Mall for al fresco dining and outdoor entertainment at this pedestrian-only stretch of shops, restaurants, and bars. Pick up a souvenir or two for friends back home at one of the eclectic boutiques!

If you are in the mood for seafood, you are definitely in the right place! Pull up a seat at Joe’s Stone Crab, one of South Beach’s most iconic restaurants thanks to its – you guessed it! – famous crustaceans. Deliciously fresh, sweet, and meaty stone crab claws are served up daily from October through May, when this local delicacy is in season.

When the sun goes down, South Beach’s legendary nightlife comes alive! Take your pick from the dozens of renowned dance clubs, each serving exotic cocktails as professional DJs play dance music into the early morning hours.
