Location, amenities and the upstairs view are all perfect.

Centrally located - close to shopping, grocery stores and great restaurants. For a home base-this is a great place to stay. Very clean when we arrived, large bedrooms with comfortable beds. Kitchen is adequate, although small. No comfortable 'hanging out' space inside. But if you're there to explore it doesn't matter. Outdoor area was nice - table and chairs, a couple small refrigerators and a sink. Grill didn't work (although we didn't ask for it to be fixed, either.) All pavers in the back, so no grassy area if you need one for your dogs. We walked out to the street and to the adjoining neighborhood. Rifle Range Road is a busy road. The biggest downside to this location is the driveway. This is a carriage house behind the main house, which I assume is occupied by the owner. There is a gravel driveway that runs along the side of the main house with a hedgerow on either side. We had two large cars with us, so we had to back down the driveway to get to the parking area. Whichever car parks last has to be the first to leave. With one small car I think you feasibly could pull into the parking area and turn around to come straight out the driveway to Rifle Range.

Where is Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina?

While it’s just 10 miles from the beloved destination of Charleston, Mt. Pleasant has an allure of its own. The state capital of Columbia is about two hours away, making it a great escape for city dwellers. The beaches of Sullivan’s Island and Isle of Palms are a short drive away.

Things to do near your Mt. Pleasant rental

One of our favorite things about this beautiful town is the Old Village District: a result of Charleston’s expansion in the 1700s. Here you’ll find charming historic architecture and quiet streets peppered with live oaks. Pitt Street Pharmacy is a must for vintage flair, where you can enjoy a grilled cheese or a burger at an old-fashioned counter. Check out the local arts and crafts at Studio Shoppe, or grab a bottle at Rudi’s Old Village Wine Shop to enjoy back at your Mt. Pleasant vacation rental.

Stretch your legs along the water at Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park or catch a live performance at the Sweetgrass Pavilion. Grab a sandwich at the River Watch Cafe and Gift Shop to enjoy at one of the picnic tables.

History buffs will love taking a guided boat ride to Fort Sumter, a Civil War fort built in 1865. The 40-minute boat ride is narrated with tales of the fort’s history, and once on land, visitors can explore on their own.  Don’t forget to check out the gift shop for a fun souvenir to remember your trip.

And, of course, there’s the incredible local food scene. Our Mt. Pleasant vacation homes are surrounded by restaurants, cafes, and other eateries serving everything from Southern-style cookin’ to European-inspired tapas to healthy bites. In fact, you could probably spend your entire trip just exploring the restaurants, breweries, cocktail bars, bakeries, and more.
