Very beautiful, spacious home with lots of activities for everyone to do. Can’t wait to come back here and stay again!!
Rob B. | Dec 2024
The home itself was wonderful! One of the top cleanest I’ve ever stayed in which is huge for us. Plenty of towels/wash cloths, pillows, bedding. The kids loved the loft and claimed it pretty quickly. Well stocked kitchen for a family that enjoys cooking - cookware, utensils, dishes. We thoroughly enjoyed the kayaks and are grateful the homeowner provided those. The house was even decorated for Christmas, which was a pleasant surprise and such a cozy treat! My only complaint is that horrific driveway. We brought a passenger fan for our entire family to be able to travel together and immediately knew we were in trouble when we slid halfway down the driveway before reaching the bottom. My dad’s AWD rental spun tires on the curve, and our neighbor who accidentally came down the wrong drive was nearly in tears because she was too terrified to drive back up. Lots of backwards sliding and a few prayers later we were able to get all of the vehicles out, but had to keep the van at the top of the hill, which was terribly inconvenient. The walking path to the fire pit and dock were pretty steep as well. A bit unnerving and uncomfortable all around if anyone in your party has knee trouble. Amanda, the property manager, was very kind regarding our problems with the driveway and made calls to help find a remedy. However, if my brother wasn’t able to get the van out(a miracle) we would have had to call a tow truck and added that expense to the trip. All that said, we had a wonderful week in a comfortable home making memories with our family to cherish a lifetime. Just wanted to be sure to offer some feedback on the driveway as we had no clue just how “steep” it actually was. Again, we could not have been more pleased with the actual home itself!

Let me start by saying that once we opened the door to Payton's Place we were delighted and immediately impressed with the view and we were thrilled to see that the dock was still in place despite being early November. My husband and I took a 'working' vacation with our dog to grasp at the last bits of summer and this place was the perfect spot to do so. The place was exceptionally clean inside - It was very, very clean! We had some questions for the Vacasa staff, and not only did they respond immediately, the property manager also followed up with us after traditional working hours. I also loved the emails from Vacasa notifying us that we could check in early as the house was ready ahead of the 4:00 check in time! This was delightful as we arrived in town an hour prior to check-in, giving us more time to unpack and enjoy the amazing sunsets from the deck. Maybe because it's fall, but the neighborhood was so quiet and tranquil. The view from the deck of the hillside homes was so beautiful. I mentioned earlier that my husband and I both had to work, which meant logging into our company's VPN and taking multiple video conference calls. The Wi-Fi was exceptional! No dropped calls, no lagging on our extensive spreadsheets. There is limited cell service in the area, you might want to use GPS to find your way to the house once you arrive at the front check-in security booth. We lost our cell and had to pull over to switch to GPS, but had no problems finding the place. Also, very nice that there is a Vacasa sign in front of the driveway announcing that you'd arrived a Payton's Place. The hot tub was AMAZING! So Clean! So comfortable, if you go you have to try out the part of the hot tub that is like sitting in a recliner...it was so soothing, especially after I had spent the mornings paddleboarding with my dog (we brought our own inflatable paddle board). The Powell River was quiet and perfect for paddleboarding. A young buck visited each morning, and did enjoy watching me struggle to bring the paddleboard up the steps. Yes, the steps/ramp going down to the lake are steep but you quickly adjust! Yes, the driveway is steep, just take it slow. There was plenty of toilet paper and supplies. Bring your own coffee, you can make drip or K-Cups. PS the coffee bar is adorable! I loved the collection of coffee mugs, such a nice, cozy decorative touch. Our bed was comfortable, the shower and bath were so nice. Each morning, I felt like I was treating myself to a spa vacation! We went a day trip to Cumberland Gap National Park and enjoyed the view from the Pinnacle and lunch at nieteen 19. We were so lucky to find this gem! Being from Chicago, and noticing the baggo boards, we are hoping that maybe this place was named for Walter Payton!
