Things to Do in Dover, VT

Staying in Dover means that you'll have your choice of snow activities, hiking trails, and local destinations to fill your days with outdoor activities. Set in the shadow of Mount Snow to the east, there's a seemingly endless array of downhill runs, cross country trails, and snowy adventures to experience.

Previously known as Mount Pisgah, Mount Snow is the closest major ski resort to many Northeast metropolitan areas. After playing co-host to the inaugural "Extreme Games" in 1995, Mount Snow found a niche among avid skiers and snowboarders and solidified that status by hosting the Winter X Games in 2000. With everything from backcountry trails and awe-inspiring half-pipes to ski schools and sled parks for the little ones, the mountain offers something for every snow enthusiast!

During the warmer months, the same challenging trails turn into downhill bike paths that take you through the budding wildflowers and towering trees. Golf experts will love indulging in the rolling greens and lush fairways of the Mount Snow Golf Course. Designed to showcase the gorgeous landscape and challenge golfers at the same time, you'll have just as much fun working on your slice at the driving range as you will hitting the long ball down the fairway.

Regardless of when you find yourself in Dover, you'll discover that there are an abundance of entertainment options and outdoor experiences for guests of all ages and interests!

Day Trips from Dover, VT

If you're in the mood to explore the Northeast, wake up early and make the 120 mile trip to Boston, MA. Filled with a rich history, mouth-watering dining, and attractions that will please everyone's entertainment palate, you'll never be at a loss for fun! To experience a true Boston day, catch a Red Sox game at the historic Fenway park, cheer on the Bruins as they skate to victory at TD Gardens, and then finish your trip by grabbing a piping hot cup of chowder at one of the local pubs.

You could also visit the state capital of New York with a 67-mile trip to Albany. Take a tour of the impressive Capital building and, if you have any sports enthusiasts in the group, make sure to head over to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. Walk through the halls of this well-known museum and learn about the greatest players to grace a baseball diamond.

Dover offers everyone the chance to revel in the tranquility of the rich green forest with its expansive outdoor offerings. Whether you're exploring the wildflower-laden trails or coming for the famous New England fall foliage, sipping a hot cup of cocoa after skiing down the mountain, or simply wandering through the local artisan shops, you'll make vacation memories that are guaranteed to last a lifetime!
