What a fun place to stay and have a relaxing weekend. We found plenty of amazing restaurants and park trails to walk. The view was spectacular. Highly recommend

The home was perfect for our group! We enjoyed sitting on the deck in the Adirondack chairs and the view from the dining room table (we saw several eagles fly by and salmon jumping). Very cozy home and very comfortable for a group.

History of Gig Harbor, WA

In the year 1840, Captain Charles Wilkes brought a small boat called the “Captain’s Gig” into this sheltered harbor for protection, and a year later, Gig Harbor was born. The name of both the waterfront city and the bay surrounding it, Gig Harbor is considered a favorite tourist destination by many, with plentiful swimming, museums, parks, hiking trails, and breweries everywhere you go.

Fishing in Gig Harbor, WA

Whether you’re an avid fisherman yourself, or you plan to head down to the harbor and buy a fresh catch from someone who is, Gig Harbor knows its fish! Known as the “Maritime City” by many, lovers of seafood will find some of the freshest catches they’ve ever had, from Dungeness crab to Chinook salmon. If you want to get out on the water yourself, bring your own boat along, or visit Gig Harbor Rent-A-Boat for all kinds of rentals, from power boats to kayaks.

Things to Do in Gig Harbor, WA

From brunching at the Devoted Kiss Cafe to visiting the annual summer festival at the Blue Willow Lavender Farm, there is plenty to keep even the most seasoned traveler occupied. In the summertime, pack a picnic lunch in your kitchen and have some family fun out on the water on a pedal boat! The Pacific Northwest is temperate in the winter, so if you love the outdoors, don’t let the drizzly weather stop you from your hiking adventure – just bring some sturdy boots and a waterproof jacket along!

If you would rather stay dry, bring some cozy pajamas and a good novel or two and curl up in the living room of one of our Gig Harbor rental homes (many with their own fireplaces) for wintertime rejuvenation. Later, you can stop by 7 Seas Brewing for a warm, inviting atmosphere and a taste of what locals have named the best brewery in the South Sound.
