The little town of Hurricane is a family-friendly spot approximately 20 miles from the park's entrance. Travelers seeking more dining, shopping, and urban entertainment will find no better spot than the comparatively bustling city of St. George, just 40 miles east of Zion National Park which is surrounded by several other scenic areas to explore, in addition to great public parks. Pioneer Park has slot canyons and a native desert plant garden, and fun free options like a concert in the park series, historical tours of Tabernacle Street, and public art displays.
Just outside of St. George, the town of Santa Clara is home to the fantastic vacation rental community of Paradise Village at Zion, where any family can enjoy all the comforts of a private vacation home coupled with a beautiful community swimming pool and other resort-style amenities.

Things to do in Zion National Park

After a long day canyoneering, off-roading, tubing down the Virgin, horseback riding, and just all around pushing your body to its limits, take some time to relax and soothe those sore muscles with a treatment at Zion Canyon massage before heading for a bite to eat at Oscar's Cafe, located just outside the park's west entrance.
Zion National Park hikes
Of course, the most popular activity at the park is hiking through some of the numerous trails. You can easily expect to take in some of the most awe-inspiring sights when you reach the peak of the famous Angel's Landing hike. Making your way over steep cliffs and slippery slopes all become worth it from the top.
Located deep within the Left Fork of the North Creek is one of the wonders of the park, the Subway. This hike is not for the faint of heart, as it requires miles of strenuous hiking, rappelling, and even swimming through deep pools.
One of the most popular sections of the park is The Narrows, a gorge with tall, red rock walls with the Virgin River cutting through, sometimes only twenty to thirty feet wide. Adventurous hikers can explore this trail which often includes walking in the river.
Don't fret if adrenaline-pumping hikes aren't quite your style, there are plenty of other equally incredible trails around every corner. The Emerald Pools have a lower pool hike, which is short and easy, and more moderate hikes leading to the middle and upper pools. Another low-impact hike is found at Canyon Overlook. The views from the rim do not disappoint and claim one of the best spots for photographing the spectacular sights of Zion.
